WHAT IS SCOUTING?
Scouting is a worldwide movement for girls and boys that has shaped the development of youth and adults for over 100 years now. Scouts are in every part of the community and Scouting is the biggest and most successful youth organisation in Australia.
The aim of Scouting is to encourage the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual development of young people so they may play a constructive role in society as responsible citizens and as members of their local and international communities.
SCOUTING IS FUN!
Scouting is definitely fun, and it also prepares young people for life in the adult word by teaching responsibility for their own actions and progress. If you join Scouts you will get to do lots of fun things. You may participate in drama activities, play games, campfire sing-a-longs, making craft objects, cook, camping, bushwalking, earn badges, go canoeing and go on many outings to bowling, indoor rock climbing, even visit your local fire brigade. Scouting can even take you flying!

WHAT WILL IT COST?
Cub Scouts costs $60.00 per term [school term], there is also a small 'one-off' administration fee when joining for the first time. Cub Scouts is also a uniformed organisation and uniforms are available through 'Snowgum' outlets. The cost of uniform is quite reasonable and if you choose a uniform size that a child can grow with, the uniform can last for the whole 3 years!
Camps and some 'outings' have nominal charges associated with them and again these are kept to the absolute 'at cost' minimum. There are many free activities.
Your child will be provided with the 1st Greystanes scalf, badges and Handbook free of charge.
PARENT / GUARDIAN INVOLVEMENT
Parent and family members are most welcome to come along and be part of the Scout group and participation is encouraged. Scouting is made up of volunteers, the Leaders, Parent Helpers and Committee members ALL donate their time.
No matter what size the Scout group is, help is always needed for either outdoor activities, camps and general maintenance in and around the Scout Hall.
Without the help of others, the Scoup group cannot survive.
